Local Honey

Delete your Local Honey account or data

Local Honey (local-honey.co.uk and the Local Honey app) lets customers buy honey from local beekeepers, and lets beekeepers sell it. On this page you can ask us to close your Local Honey account and delete your personal data, or to delete only some of your data and keep your account.

Two kinds of request

Request account deletion

We close your account and delete the personal data that goes with it. You will not be able to sign in again on the website or in the app. Some records may have to be kept, as explained below.

Request deletion of selected data

You keep your account and can carry on shopping. Tell us which personal data you would like deleted, for example a saved address, your phone number or your reviews.

How to make a request

Choose whichever is easiest. Each way sends the same request to the same team.

  1. 1In the Local Honey app: open Account, then Delete account or data.
  2. 2On the website: sign in, go to My account, then Delete account or data.
  3. 3Without the app or signing in: use the form on this page. We email a link to your account's address, and your request is sent once you confirm it.

Make a request without signing in

Enter the email address of your Local Honey account. We will send a link to it so we know the request is yours.

Or sign in to send it from your account

This sends a request to the Local Honey team, who handle it by hand. It does not delete any data or close your account straight away. We will email you when its status changes, and tell you if we cannot do all or part of it, and why.

What would you like us to do?

We cannot check this just now. Please refresh the page and try again.

What is deleted and what is kept

What we can delete depends on the request. Some records must be kept even when an account is closed.

What can be deleted

  • Your account details: name, email address, phone number and password
  • Saved delivery and billing addresses
  • Marketing and email preferences, reminders and your basket
  • Reviews and other content you have added
  • Links to sign-in services such as Facebook
  • For beekeepers: your shop profile, listings and photos, once any open orders are dealt with

What may be kept

  • Order history, including the orders and invoices for your purchases or your shop's sales: kept for 7 years for tax and legal compliance, as our privacy policy says.
  • A record of your deletion request and how we handled it, so that we can show it was dealt with.
  • Anything else we must keep by law, or to prevent fraud or settle a dispute. If so, we will tell you what and why.
  • Full card numbers: Local Honey never stores them. Payments are handled by our payment provider, Stripe, which keeps its own records under its own privacy policy.

A request to delete selected data keeps your account open: you can still sign in and shop, and only the data you name is deleted, apart from anything we must keep, as listed above.

How we handle your request

Every request is dealt with by a person, not automatically.

  1. We record your request, give it a reference and email you a receipt.
  2. We check the request is yours: you were signed in when you sent it, or you confirmed it from the link we emailed to your account's address.
  3. The team reviews it, and may email you if we need to know more, for example about open orders or which data you mean.
  4. We carry out the deletion by hand and update the status as we go. You can see the status in Account settings until your account is closed, and we email you at each change.
  5. If we cannot carry out all or part of your request, for example because a record must be kept by law, we tell you what and why.
